Poem: Mountain Man
A Pantoum Poem
Standing in a cold drizzle
Soaked further than the skin
Bare and naked to the wet
I embrace the green mountain
Soaked further than the skin
The trees call my name
I embrace green mountain
Into the gray clay I sink
The trees call my name
I speak softly into the wood
Into the gray clay I sink
Beard deep next to the roots
I speak softly into the wood
Promising to do as they say
Beard deep next to the roots
I give them an offering
Promising to do as they say
Bare and naked to the wet
I give them an offering
Standing in a cold drizzle

A pantoum! It took me a minute to figure it out since Substack posts mutilate poetry formatting. If you post it through the website and not to app, you can click “More” then select “Poetry”. Then when you paste it will retain your stanza formatting.
Great work!
